conda-forge: Community Python Package Channel
by Tim Hopper
conda-forge serves as a public channel of
community-maintained conda packages available for use with the conda package manager.
The
conda-forge project also includes a collection of Github repos where the packages are
defined and maintained. These packages are automatically built and uploaded to the
conda-forge channel on anaconda.org.
The official “Anaconda” channel, maintained by Anaconda, Inc., is not free
for commercial use and is not community-maintained. conda-forge provides an alternative for Python developers in the Conda ecosystem.
